6 Indian Female Hackers Taking Over The Cyberspace & Protecting Netizens

Cyberspace is so vast that we can never know who is monitoring us or when we are being watched. However, ethical hackers often keep us and our data safe. While the industry is largely dominated by men, there are quite a few women who are taking over cyberspace and ensuring the safety of netizens.

According to a The Tech Outlook report, women make up only 24% of the workforce in cybersecurity. While the norms will change slowly, we should highlight the names who are making the change. Let’s take a look.

Vandana Verma

Vandana Verma is currently the Security Relations Leader at Snyk. She has over 17 years of experience and has worked with renowned IT companies like Wipro, IBM, Accenture, etc. She completed her Post Graduate Diploma in Cyber Laws from the National Academy of Legal Studies and Research University, Hyderabad.

Verma specialises in infrastructure/network, application development and mobile and cloud security. Her work predominantly includes vulnerability assessment, remediation support and manual and automated code review.

Satyavathi Divadari

Satyavathi Divadari is among the top 10 Women Tech Leaders in India. She is also among the top 20 Indian Women Security Influencers. Currently, she is the Head of Enterprise Security Architecture.

In the past, she has been associated with firms like Information Systems Security Association, News Corp, Cloud Security Alliance Bangalore Chapter and more. She received her Doctorate in Philosophy from PES University and completed her MTech from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani.

Advocate Puneet Bhasin

Advocate Puneet Bhasin is a Cyber Law expert practising in Technology, Media & Intellectual Property Law in Cyberspace, Lecturer & Author. She lives in Mumbai and often deals with matters related to E-commerce, Cyber Crimes and intellectual property disputes.

She also assists the Rajya Sabha committee in reforming Cyber Pornography (is porn bad for women) Laws in India. She is among the members of the Cyber Security Task Force Working Group on Skills and Policy Development for the Digital India Movement.

Kalpana Maniar

Kalapana Maniar is the Director of Edelweiss Rural and Corporate Services Limited. She has previously worked with Bombay Stock Exchange Limited and Oracle Financial Services Software Limited.

She did her Post Graduate Diploma in Securities Law from Government Law College in Mumbai.

Anjana Sathyan

Arunima Saha

Arunima Saha is an ethical hacker at Robert Bosch Engineering and Business Solutions. She is working to protect electric vehicles and charging stations, which are more vulnerable to cyber-attacks.

Speaking to Times Of India, she said, “It’s like asking for money in exchange for energy.” Charging stations are capable of storing huge amounts of data about vehicles, and hackers can use them for malicious practice.
