According to Booking.com’s latest survey, Indians are eyeing both familiar hotspots and hidden gems for a memorable end to 2024. Here’s a look at the most searched destinations for a perfect year-end getaway.
The survey highlights a remarkable surge in domestic travel searches, with an impressive 40-100% increase compared to the previous year.

Booking.com's research identifies the most searched domestic destinations for the holiday period:

- Manali
- Ooty
- Varanasi
- Goa
- Munnar
- Mahabaleshwar
- Lonavala
While popular destinations are still a favourite, more and more travellers are looking for unique places with rich culture. Instead of just visiting familiar spots, people want to explore new places that offer a mix of history, culture, and adventure. Traditional favourites like Dubai (90% searches), Bangkok (60%), and Singapore (30%) are the most emerging destinations.

Top 10 Most Searched International Destinations (Dec 21, 2024 – Jan 5, 2025)

Interestingly, the survey reveals a growing interest in less conventional destinations. Culturally rich locations such as Baku (120% increase), Lapland (125%), Danang (80%), and Tbilisi (60%) are gaining popularity.
The top three most searched countries for Indian travellers during the holiday season are:
- United Arab Emirates (110% increase)
- Thailand (60% increase)
- United Kingdom (35% increase)
Santosh Kumar, Country Manager for India, Sri Lanka, Maldives, and Indonesia at Booking.com, provides context, "This year-end holiday season highlights the evolving travel aspirations of Indian travellers. We're witnessing a surge in travel demand, with a fascinating blend of domestic and international exploration."
The study analysed search sessions between November 26, 2024, and December 2, 2024, focusing on check-in dates from December 21, 2024, to January 5, 2025. It's important to note that this data represents search trends and may differ from actual bookings.
