How To Make Shahi Tukda?
Here’s a step-by-step guide to easily making this Hyderabadi favourite dessert, Shahi Tukda, in just 15 minutes.
For The Rabdi:
- To make the rabdi, add milk to a pan then add custard powder. Combine the two well, and make sure there are no lumps.
- Once it is mixed properly, add it to a pan over medium heat and stir continuously.
- Next, add sugar and cardamom powder. Mix the milk thoroughly and slowly bring it to a boil.
- Boil the milk till it thickens slightly, and voila! The Rabdi is ready.
- Take it off the heat and let the Rabdi cool completely.
For Shahi Tukda:
- Add sugar, water, and a pinch of fragrant saffron to a pan over medium heat.
- Stir the mixture till the sugar dissolves. Boil the mixture for 5 minutes until you achieve a sticky consistency. You can check the consistency of the sugar syrup by dipping a spatula in the syrup. Once you’ve achieved the perfect consistency, your sugar syrup is ready. Keep it aside and let it cool.
- Take 5 bread slices and cut them into triangles.
- Heat oil and fry the slices of bread on medium heat. Stir continuously while you are frying.
- Flip the slices while frying to ensure all sides are fried.
- Once the bread slices are crisp and golden brown, take them out of the pan and drain the excess oil.
- Dip the slices in the sugar syrup and coat them generously. Make sure to soak the slices for 2 minutes.
- Add the sugar-coated bread to the cool Rabdi. Garnish your Shahi Tukda with some chopped almonds, cashews, and tutti frutti.
Enjoy!
