One of the most famous and well-preserved palaces in Seoul is Gyeongbokgung Palace. Gyeongbokgung Palace was the main royal palace of the Joseon dynasty and was built in 1395. The National Museum of Korea and the National Folk Museum are located on the grounds of this palace. In order to preserve the palace for future generations, the Korean government has devoted a lot of time and energy to its reconstruction. Buildings that were damaged during the Japanese occupation are part of these attempts to be rebuilt and restored.

2. Changdeokgung Palace

Changdeokgung Palace was built in 1405 as a secondary royal palace. It is also a UNESCO World Heritage site and is known for its stunning gardens, which are considered some of the most beautiful in Korea. The palace complex features several traditional Korean buildings, including the famous Huwon Secret Garden, which is hidden behind a series of walls and offers a peaceful and serene atmosphere.
This palace was also seen in popular Korean dramas such as The King's Affection, The Crowned Clown, and The Royal Gambler.

3. Deoksugung Palace

Devastated by outside forces, the dynasty sought to survive by building Seokjojeon Hall and accepting Western culture, but in the end, it met its demise. The pavilion of Jeonggwanheon can be found on a high hill in Deoksugung, where traditional wooden architecture coexists with the newer style of stone buildings.

4. Changgyeonggung Palace

Changgyeonggung Palace was built in the 15th century and serves as both the royal ancestral shrine's location and the king's traditional home. A wonderful example of official and residential structures that have been blended into the natural environment is Changdeokgung. Originally intended to serve as a secondary palace to Gyeongbokgung's main palace, the complex was set apart from it by its intended use and internal arrangement inside the capital.

5. Gyeonghuigung Palace

Gyeonghuigung Palace also known as Gyeonghui Palace was known as the emergency palace for the king. During the late Joseon period, Gyeonghuigung Palace served as a secondary palace. Nine years into Prince Gwanghae's rule, in 1617, work on the project began, and it was finished in 1623. It is also the newest among South Korea's palaces. It had more than a hundred structures at one point, but several were destroyed when Japan occupied the area. Even though it's not as well-known as the others, this Royal Palace is still a great place to visit in South Korea.
This palace has been seen in popular Korean dramas like Traces of Love, When My Love Blooms, Kingdom, and Temperature of Love.
