As the capital is preparing for the G20 Summit between September 9 to 10, 2023, there has been much information and misinformation floating around the internet about which routes will be affected. Delhi Traffic Police has issued an official guideline so that the day-to-day lives of citizens are not affected.
Here is all you need to know about the metro and road routes that you need to avoid for a couple of days in NCR.

- According to the official declarations, only authorised residents and bonafide vehicles will be allowed to move within the New Delhi District. If a vehicle caters to waste management, housekeeping, catering, etc. restaurants, hotels, hospitals, and other crucial establishments have the permission to move without restrictions.
- Non-destined vehicles will be diverted on Western and Eastern peripheral expressways and won’t be allowed to enter New Delhi.
- Buses in the capital will operate on Ring Road and road network beyond Rong Road towards the borders of the city. The buses will not have permission to operate within the city, but they will be allowed to exit the capital.
- The Delhi Traffic Police has also advised to observe traffic rules, have patience, and follow road discipline and directions of Traffic police personnel who will be on duty.
- If you want to reach your destination on time, you should plan ahead to avoid any inconvenience and congestion on the road.
G20 Summit Traffic Advisory For Metro
- According to the advisory of Delhi Traffic Police, metro rail service will be available for all the commuters in the capital. But you must know that you won’t be able to board or de-board any metro at the Supreme Court Metro Station from 5 am on September 9, 2023, to 11 pm on September 10, 2023.
- A few more metro stations that are expected to remain closed during the G20 Summit in Delhi include RK Puram, Bhikaji Cama Place, IIT, Moti Bagh, Sadar Bazar, Cantonment, and Munirka metro stations. You won’t be able to board or de-board trains at these stations.
- The police have also added Janpath, Dhaula Kuan, Supreme Court, Khan Market, and Bhikaji Cama Place to the list of sensitive places.

- Passengers travelling on the G20 Summit dates to railways and airports are allowed to commute via taxis, TSRs, and private vehicles.
- You should be wary that there will be congestion on the road journey, therefore, the Delhi Traffic Police has asked you to travel with sufficient time at hand.
- The authorities have also advised to take the metro for commuting on September 9 and 10, 2023, for swift and hassle-free travelling.
- The Airport Express Line connecting New Delhi Station to Dwarka Sector 21 Station via IGI Airport T3 will be the most convenient line for people who want to catch their planes and trains on time.
- The Delhi Police has also issued a statement on social media clearing the air around lockdown in the capital on the G20 Summit dates. The tweet read, “Don’t panic at all! There is no lockdown.”
