Mount Abu
Nestle between the Aravali Mountain Rang in Rajasthan, Mount Abu is popularly known as the oasis in the desert and is one beautiful destination to visit in India during May. The place is home to several lakes, green forests, rivers, and waterfalls where you can chill and relax with your family or friends or even solo. Often people climb onto the rock to get a view over the Nakki Lake. Mount Abu also has Dilwara Jain Temples, Abbu Road, Achalgarh Village, Guru Shikhar, Adhar Devi Temple, and Wildlife Sanctuary.
Ranikhet
Ranikhet is another great place to visit during the month of May in Uttarakhand. The cantonment parks were established way back during the British Rule. This is the perfect spot to de-stress and cool off the hot summers. Forget pollution completely and walk around the green places to take in pure oxygen. Moreover one can get a picture perfect view or a distant view of the Himalayan Mountain Range. This is located close to the state capital, Delhi.
Kashmir
Now this one is heaven for sure. Although I went in the winter season when the snow is in its full glory, it is said that Kashmir is beautiful in May. The Valley of Kashmir is full of lakes and has multicoloured flora surrounding them. Take the boat ride on Dal Lake or take a walk in the gardens.
Tawang
A part of Arunachal Pradesh, Tawang is home to one of the oldest Buddhist monasteries which are a major tourist attraction. Slowly getting the limelight because of booming tourism, Tawang ha many water spots to visit like lakes including Pankang Teng Tso Lake & Nuranang Waterfall. Climb up to the Gorichen Peak & experience Paradise Lake at Sela Pass. You can make a trip to the Tawang Monastery, Taktsang Gompa, Bumla Pass, Jaswant Garh, Bap Teng Kang Waterfall, and Tawang War Memorial are the popular places to visit here.
Shimla
A very popular hill station, Shimla is home to the beautiful nature and adventurous activities. Take a stroll on the streets with cathedrals and churches on one side for that inner peace. There are various restaurants, resorts, and spas to cool off. Shimla also has a Golf course close by so you can chill here as well. The most visible landmark in Shimla is Christ’s Church. Jakhoo Hill, Naldehra Peak, Chadwick Falls, Kufri, and Chail are the topmost attractions to visit here. Don’t miss the Toy Train of Shimla.

Gangtok
Located in Sikkim, Gangtok is a popular place to visit in May. The picturesque valleys of Himalayas and the Buddhist monasteries and green tea plantations make the finest combination for a holiday. Gangtok has Moreover, get to view some of the world’s highest peaks from here and visit Rumtek Monastery, Nathula Pass, Tosmgo Lake, Baba Harbhajan Singh Memorial Temple, Ban Jhakri Falls, Himalayan Zoological Park and more.
Darjeeling
A scenic hill station to visit during May, you get to see the sun rising from behind the Mount Kanchenjunga Range. It's a sight to behold. You can also get a view of the entire Eastern Himalayan Range snow tips from Tiger Hill. You can also see Mount Everest on a clear day. If you are going to Sikkim then this is the best route. Mountaineering enthusiasts can visit the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute.

If you would like the most pleasant walk in your life you can walk through the Kangra valley’s tea plantations. This place is the best in May. Go to the Namgyal Monastery and take a boat ride in the Dal Lake here. Located in Himachal Pradesh, this quiet place has attracted the buzzing and excited fans ever since the IPLs, ODIs & T20s at the HPCA stadium. Places around this one include Dharamkot, Triund, Dalai Lama Temple, Bhagsu Waterfall, Gyuto Monastery, Kangra Fort and Kangra Art Museum.
