The news was confirmed by columnist and author Suhel Seth, who shared a heartfelt tribute to Sunjay's passing on X (formerly Twitter).

Who Was Sunjay Kapur?
Sunjay Kapur was a well-known Indian businessman and the Chairman of Sona Comstar, a major company that makes advanced auto parts like gears and driveline systems. He was the son of industrialist Dr Surinder Kapur and played a big role in growing the company internationally. Sunjay also served as the President of the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association (ACMA) of India, representing the auto parts industry at a national level, as per Hindustan Times.

Karisma Kapoor and Sunjay Kapur’s Relationship Timeline
Karisma Kapoor and Sunjay Kapur tied the knot in September 2003 in a lavish wedding that combined Bollywood glamour with business prestige. The couple welcomed two children during their marriage, daughter Samaira in 2005 and son Kiaan in 2010.
However, their relationship didn't work out. By around 2010, reports of growing differences, alleged infidelity, and family-related conflicts began making headlines. Karisma eventually moved back to Mumbai with her children, while Sunjay continued to live in Delhi.
After their separation, Sunjay Kapur went on to marry entrepreneur and former model Priya Sachdev. The two had been together for several years and shared a son.

In 2014, Sunjay Kapur filed for divorce with mutual consent, but things quickly turned bitter. Karisma Kapoor opposed the move, accusing him of mistreatment and not meeting his financial responsibilities. She also filed legal complaints related to dowry harassment under Indian law.
After a long legal battle, both sides finally agreed to settle the matter. In April 2016, they decided to go ahead with a mutual consent divorce, and the court approved it on June 13, 2016.
