Products that are intended to protect and renew your skin are abundant. These products all work on your body's skin barrier, which is the outermost layer. Your skin's barrier has a mildly acidic pH. The presence of acidity (the acid mantle) acts as a kind of buffer against the development of dangerous bacteria, viruses, and fungi that could harm your skin and cause infections and other skin conditions.
The field of skincare is always growing as a result of rising beauty and skincare standards. Sometimes, when pursuing the idea of having "perfect skin," we can overdo it with the cosmetics we choose. While using products with abrasive and chemical substances can be advantageous in certain instances, doing so excessively can harm our skin and skin barrier. To protect and repair your skin barrier you can follow these steps:-
1. Washing Face Often
Water is necessary to keep our faces hydrated, yet it can sometimes harm our skin by making it dry. Instead use warm water to wash your face. You can use low-pH cleaners once or twice every day.
2. Not Using Sunscreen
One of the main reasons for a damaged skin barrier is sun exposure, and ongoing UVA and UVB exposure makes it difficult to restore the skin barrier. Every day, apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher; choose one rich in antioxidants for anti-ageing benefits.
3. Be Careful While Trying New Products
It is advised to avoid using new products if your skin barrier is not in good condition. Doing so could increase irritation and inflammation.
4. Cure With Antioxidants
In order to restore the skin barrier apply oils rich in antioxidants, such as sunflower oil, which hydrates with linoleic acid, and can help replenish depleted skin lipids. Avoid varieties with strong fragrances like mint or citrus oils, which can aggravate skin that is already sensitive.
