If you're someone who dreads winter and waits all year for summer sunshine, you're not alone. But let’s be honest, summer also brings its own set of skincare challenges. Between the heat, humidity, and constant sun exposure, finding the right sunscreen and moisturiser can feel like a task. You want something light, non-greasy, and hydrating, without making your face feel like it’s melting.
That’s exactly why I decided to try the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Sunscreen SPF 50 and the Hydro Boost Water Gel Moisturiser. Both claim to be ultra-light, packed with hydration, and perfect for summer weather.
In this edition of HZ Tried and Tested, I put them to the test to see how they hold up during hot, sticky days. The big question is, can they become your summer skincare besties? Let’s find out.
One thing I instantly liked about the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Sunscreen is its pump packaging. It’s such a relief not to have to deal with the usual tube-style bottles where too much product spills out. With the pump, you get just the right amount. On the flip side, the Hyaluronic Acid Water Gel Moisturiser comes in a round jar. While it’s a more traditional format, I didn’t find it inconvenient at all.
I’ve been using both products consistently for over a month now, especially since the Delhi summer heat kicked in. What I love most? They’re super compact and easily slip into my handbag or carry-on, making them perfect travel buddies. Whether you are stepping out for brunch or heading on a weekend getaway, these two fit right into your routine without taking up space or leaking everywhere.
What really stood out to me about both of these Neutrogena products is that they’re formulated with hyaluronic acid, which is a major win for someone like me with dry skin. This powerhouse ingredient helps attract and lock in moisture, and the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Sunscreen does exactly that. It keeps my skin feeling soft, bouncy, and well-hydrated.
The Hydro Boost Sunscreen feels very lightweight, so much so that I sometimes forget I’m wearing any sunscreen at all. There’s no white cast, no stickiness, and no heaviness, which is honestly rare to find. I’m often out and about during peak sun hours, and this sunscreen has definitely made those commutes more bearable.

The Water Gel Moisturiser, meanwhile, has a weightless texture. The only downside? Right after application, it can feel a little greasy for a few minutes before it settles into the skin. Not a dealbreaker, but something to keep in mind if you’re in a rush.
Now, in true sister style, my sibling (who has oily skin) decided to give it a go too, and surprisingly, it worked well for her as well. Even though hydrating moisturisers are usually targeted at dry skin types, this one is oil-free and non-comedogenic, which means it doesn’t clog pores. It ended up being a great fit for her too, proving it's versatile enough for different skin types.
Overall, if you’re looking for hydration without heaviness, sunscreen without a white cast, and skincare that works for both dry and oily skin, these Neutrogena picks might just become your summer skincare besties.
