Ques:- How does your brand differentiate its essential oil blends for monsoon compared to other seasons?
Rupal said that their approach to creating essential oil blends is based on the understanding that each season offers new opportunities to improve our well-being. “Each blend is designed to address the unique needs and characteristics of the season,” said expert Tyagi.
For the monsoon season, the blends focus on:
- Humidity and Freshness: “The high humidity, during monsoon can make one feel sluggish. Our monsoon blends often include oils like lemongrass, eucalyptus, and peppermint, known for their refreshing and invigorating properties.”
- Respiratory Health: “The shift in weather can sometimes trigger respiratory problems. To tackle this, we incorporate essential oils like eucalyptus, tea tree, and rosemary for their potent antiseptic and decongestant properties.”
- Insect Repellence: “During the monsoon season, insect activity, especially mosquitoes, increases. We use natural insect repellents such as citronella, lemongrass, and lavender oils in our blends.”

Ques:- Are there any safety considerations or precautions consumers should be aware of when using essential oils during the monsoon months?
Rupal Tyagi said that there are a few safety considerations one must follow when using essential oils during the monsoon season.
- Dilution: “Essential oils are highly potent and should always be diluted before being used topically.”
- Storage: “Essential oils should be stored in a cool, dark place to maintain their potency. Exposure to heat and sunlight can degrade the oils, reducing their effectiveness and altering their chemical composition.
- Patch Tests: Always perform a patch test before using a new essential oil blend.
- Avoid Photosensitivity: Some essential oils, particularly citrus oils like lemon, orange, and bergamot, can cause photosensitivity, making your skin more susceptible to sunburn. Even during the monsoon, there can be sunny spells, so it's best to keep this in mind.
“Consult a Professional: If you have any underlying health conditions it’s always best to consult with a healthcare professional or a certified aromatherapist before using essential oils,” she added.
