Many studies have proved that roses have anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. And we all know the proven benefits of water. Rose water can be used for several things but it is mainly highlighted because of its skincare benefits.
The best thing about this rose water is that it can be made very easily at home. If you are not sure how to make it at home, then we are here with 3 easy methods to help you.
This is the easiest and the quickest method to make rose water. All you need is rose petals, distilled water, a large pot, a strainer, measuring cups and jar or spray bottle.
Remove the rose petals from the stem until you have ½ cup of fresh petals. Now, clean the petals with water.
Submerge the petals in water. Make sure you take enough water to cover the petals. Don’t take more or less than it.
Place the pot filled with petals and water on a stove and bring the water to a simmer on medium flame. Once it starts to simmer, cover the pot and let it be on low flame. Leave for 15 to 30 minutes or until the rose petals lose their colour. Now, turn off the heat and let it cool down for some time with the lid open.
Use a strainer to separate the petals and rose water. You can use a nut milk bag or a muslin cloth.
Store rose water in a sealed container. Using a spray bottle to store it is the best way as it will be easy to use. You can keep it in the refrigerator for a month and for about a week in your bathroom cabinet.
This is a traditional way of making rose water. It is time consuming but it is a more natural and beneficial way. For this method, you need rose petals (rose petal powder), ice bowl, distilled water, a large pot, a strainer and a sealed container.
Remove the petals from the stems till you have filled a ½ cup as done in the first method.
Place a small bowl in the centre of a large pot.

Add the rose petals and water in the large pot around the small bowl. Take the pot lid and place it upside down on top of the pot. The lid will trap steam inside the pot.
The ice will create condensation inside the pot along with helping to accelerate the steam. The rose-infused condensation will collect on the underside of the pot lid. Then, drip down inside the clean bowl, giving you a purer, concentrated rose water. As the ice starts to melt, you have to remove the water and continue to add more ice.
Once the water inside the pot starts to boil, reduce the heat and allow the water to simmer. Let it simmer for about 20 to 25 minutes or until the colour of the rose petals (rose petal face packs) fade away.
