How to do Manicure at Home: Shahnaz Husain
If you want to maintain the health of your hands, it is important to keep your hands moisturised, and clean and take care of your nails. While getting a weekly manicure can improve the condition of your hands, it can be a challenging task to go to the salon every week. In such a situation, you can give your hands a luxurious treatment at home.
Here's how you can do a manicure at home. Take a small, deep vessel and fill it with warm water. Gather an emery board, an orange stick, a nail cutter, cotton, cotton buds, nail polish remover, nail varnish cream and hand cream.
Start by removing your old nail polish and cleaning your nails with cotton. Be careful not to use too much remover as it can dry out your nails. If you need to cut your nails, use a nail cutter. Once you're done, file your nails in an oval shape with an emery board. Always remember to file in one direction only to avoid breakage.
Soak your nails in lukewarm water for 5-7 minutes. You can add a few drops of shampoo or soap-free shower gel to the water. After soaking, clean your nails with a brush. You can use an old toothbrush, but avoid using a hard brush. Rinse your hands with water to remove any soap.
Next, use an orange stick wrapped with cotton to gently push back your cuticles. Be careful not to push too hard, as it can cause skin problems. Apply cream to the cuticles if necessary. Use a thin piece of wood wrapped with cotton to clean the inside of your nails. Avoid using sharp metal instruments.
Apply hand cream to your hands, nails and cuticles, and massage well. If you've applied too much cream, wipe it off with a damp towel. Choose a hand cream that contains Vitamin B and Vitamin E to keep your hands soft and prevent dry and dull skin.
