We all strive to achieve perfectly shaped brows that can help to highlight our eyes and sharpen our features. For this, we go through the pain of threading, pulling and waxing. However, we forget that the area around the eyebrows is sensitive.
It can also experience redness, bumps and a burning sensation. Sometimes it gets itchy right after the threading session. Therefore, here are some do’s and don’ts for before and after sessions.
Do “Welcome” Trimming
In many cases, beauticians would go for trimming brow hair instead of plucking. It is a better choice for shaping the eyebrows because not every strand needs to be removed to achieve a smooth shape. She will trim hair located towards the inner side of the brows.
Don’t Wear Eye Makeup
Post any beauty session, you often get advice to refrain from applying makeup in the treated area for at least 24 hours. The same goes for threading. After the session, you must refrain from applying any sort of makeup. The products can cause itching or add to the burning sensation.
Do Ask For The Same Beautician
If you liked how your eyebrows looked after a session, you must revisit the salon and ask for the same beautician for your next appointment. The person knows what you like. A new beautician might work according to her best judgement. She might thicken or narrow your brows, disrupting the shape that highlighted your features.
Don’t Apply Creams
It might seem like you need to cleanse the face post threading, but you must wait a couple of hours. When hair gets plucked, follicles open. The pores become like wounds which might burn or skin might suffer redness if you apply moisturisers or other products. It could clog the pores as well.
Do Check Thoroughly
Even when you are familiar with your beautician for years, you must check how she did the job each time. Sometimes she might miss out on a strand or two, making your brows look uneven. Therefore, you must always get a closer look in a mirror and ask her to tweak if required.
Don’t Pluck Between Appointments
Another eyebrow mistake to avoid is tweezing might seem like a way out in between appointments. It seems like a better option when you do not have time for threading but have to attend a party or an event. While you might be extra cautious, you can still pluck a hair or two that can disrupt the entire shape. Hence, no matter how tempted you are to pick a tweezer and shape your brows, always wait until the next appointment.

Do Threading After A Warm Shower
Soaking yourself before shaving makes it easy to get clean and smooth skin. Similarly, threading after a warm shower makes it easy to pluck a hair. The roots become soft, making it easier to pull. If you cannot get in the shower, make sure to splash your face with lukewarm water before the beautician starts her job.

Don’t Say No To Ice Or Gel
After threading, you must welcome the application of ice or a soothing gel like aloe vera. It helps with the redness and ensures to soothe the burning sensation. Icing also prevents post-threading breakouts and clogging of pores.
