Dr Marwah said, “Sensitive skin requires gentle, targeted care to maintain its barrier function and prevent irritation. Overnight masks can provide an extended period for active ingredients to work, delivering hydration, soothing inflammation, and repairing the skin barrier. Below are three scientifically backed DIY masks designed for sensitive skin, formulated with ingredients known for their efficacy and safety.”

3 DIY Overnight Face Masks For Sensitive Skin

1. Oat-Based Soothing Mask

How to make and apply: Mix two tablespoons of colloidal oatmeal and one tablespoon of plain, unsweetened yoghurt into a paste. Apply a thin layer to cleansed skin and leave it overnight. Rinse off with lukewarm water in the morning.

"Colloidal oatmeal is rich in beta-glucans and avenanthramides, which exhibit anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, while yoghurt provides lactic acid and probiotics to support barrier repair. This mask helps reduce erythema, improve hydration, and restore the skin’s natural microbiome," said Dr Marwah.

2.Aloe Vera and Glycerin Hydrating Mask

How to make and apply: Combine two tablespoons of aloe vera gel and one tablespoon of vegetable glycerin, and apply evenly to clean skin before bed. Allow it to absorb overnight, and rinse in the morning.

3.Chamomile and Rosewater Calming Mask

How to make and apply: make a lightweight paste by blending one tablespoon of cooled chamomile tea, two teaspoons of rosewater, and one teaspoon of kaolin clay. Apply to the skin for 20–30 minutes or overnight for a prolonged calming effect. Rinse thoroughly.

“Chamomile and rosewater provide anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial benefits, while kaolin clay gently absorbs excess oil without stripping moisture. This mask is ideal for calming reactive skin,” mentioned Dr Manjot.
