I have always been one of those blessed souls with an oily skin which hardly used to break out. On top of that, it always gave an illusion of a natural glow on my face due to the oil, which I absolutely loved! Now everyone has that one face wash that works for them. Mine was a one prescribed by my dermatologist, which I had been religiously using for the longest time. But ever since I moved to Delhi, the pollution/water had caused my skin to wreak havoc – I started getting painful acne very frequently, which never went away. Not the one to change skin products frequently, I was skeptical of changing my face wash, as it had worked for me all these years, even when I had taken the least care of my skin.
All these sudden changes compelled me to visit a dermatologist. Though there was definitely a difference after using the prescribed medications, the effects were short lived. Frustrated, I began trying every remedy I came across- fromface packs to ointments, but nothing helped me get rid of them. That’s when I decided to give Cetaphil Oily Skin Cleanser a try, after a friend strongly recommended.

My Experience:
Using this product might be a new experience to those who use or prefer face washes which foam or lather up. This cleanser of Cetaphil doesn’t lather or foam, but manages to do an excellent job of cleansing your face thoroughly and will specially be useful for acne-prone, oily skin. I use it twice everyday – once in the morning and once at night, and follow it up with a moisturizer. Though I couldn’t get my hands on a bottle with a pump, I don’t have much to complain about the one I have, as it comes with a flap which is equally convenient. However, it might be an issue while travelling, where there are chances it might open up and leak.
Observation:
Though I didn’t have a severe case of cystic acne all over my face, I did have painful bouts of acne on my cheeks and chin, every now and then.
I was able to see a visible difference on my face just 2 days since I started using this cleanser. It also hasn’t left my skin irritated or dry and has even considerably reduced my acne marks, leaving my face much clearer.
Now, it’s been two weeks since I started using it and I haven’t got a breakout ever since.
Pros:
- Extremely effective in getting rid of acne/pimples
- Non-comedogenic
- No tingling sensation post use
- Doesn’t leave the skin dry
- Doesn’t cause breakouts
- Rinses clean
- Travel friendly
Cons:
- Little pricey
- It would have been more convenient if it had a pump to dispense the product
- Contains chemicals

Verdict:
The Cetaphil Oily Skin Cleanser has become my holy grail and I have no plans of switching to any other face wash anytime soon! I feel that a little hole in my pocket is totally worth it, as it delivers what it claims. Who doesn’t want a clear acne/pimple free skin after all? This skin cleanser has been immensely effective and quick in treating my acne, and has worked for me like a charm!
