In the pool of Ayurvedic and organic skincare products, it’s imperative to get confused while making the choice. The terms Ayurvedic and organic are used interchangeably but they both are different. We spoke to Dr Shubha Dhaiya, Founder of Vedic Pride, Medical Practitioner, Germany to understand the difference, impact, and other benefits of both these skincare products available in the market. We have also tried Vedic Pride products that boast Ayurvedic products to experience the difference.
Dr Shubha said, “Ayurvedic skin care and organic skin care are both basically focused on natural ingredients, but they are different in philosophy and approach.”
Ayurveda is an ancient Indian medicine system, that aims to promote overall health and wellness that emphasises the balance within the body and mind. The Key Aspects of Ayurveda are its Holistic Approach, which includes treating the cause rather than symptoms, Individualisation that includes treatments customised according to a person's body type and last is Natural remedies which include utilising a variety of natural substances, including herbs, spices, oils and minerals which are certified by Ayush ministry of India.
Organic skincare refers to the products which are grown without synthetic fertilisers and pesticides or genetically modified organisms (GMOs). The primary focus is on ingredients rather than a holistic treatment approach, such as any ingredient can be organic, but it may not necessarily have therapeutic properties or be tied to a holistic philosophy. They are often certified by organisations that verify organic farming practices.
Dr Shubha highlighted that in ancient times when there was less or no usage of synthetic fertilisers and pesticides, then there was no question of the use of organic produce in Ayurvedic formulations. She mentioned that originally Ayurveda had always used organic produce because it is essential in Ayurvedic philosophy.

Amidst the pool of natural skincare products, I often find myself confused between ayurvedic and organic skincare products. I recently came across Vedic Pride which boasts ayurvedic skincare products. Out of curiosity, I decided to give it a try. I got Ayurvedic Body Butter and Face Cleanser that were enriched with natural ingredients such as Cow Ghee & Goat Ghee in body butter and aloe vera and turmeric extract in face wash. It’s been one month since I started using the products and I can see the difference on my skin. However, I find the prices quite high.
