The devotees of the Hindu religion celebrate the festival of Hariyali Teej, also known as Sawan Teej or Kumar Paksha Teej by worshipping Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. This festival is a celebration of the marital bond of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati and is observed on the third day of Shukla Paksha during the holy month of Sawan. Married women keep fast on this day to pray for their husbands’ long lives and also perform worship rituals. Observing this fast helps married women get happiness and good fortune.

Pandit Tripathi said that the Tritiya Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Sawan month is celebrated as Hariyali Teej and this year, it will start at 07:52 pm on August 6, as per the Hindu calendar. The devotees will observe the fast on August 7, 2024, as per the Panchang.

The auspicious time for puja on Hariyali Teej 2024 will remain from 6 am to 9 am, from 09:30 am to 12 pm, and from 04:30 pm to 06 pm. Astrologer Arvind told us that the evening time frame is the most auspicious for Puja on this day, according to Panchang.
According to ancient scriptures, Maa Parvati performed penance and observed Nirjala Vrat to attain Lord Shiva as her husband during the month of Sawan. On the third day of Shukla Paksha, Lord Shiva appeared in front of her and accepted her as his wife because he was impressed with the Goddess’ rigorous penance and Nirjala Vrat.
Since then, women have been observing fast and worshipping Lord Shiva with full dedication during the holy month, Sawan to seek the blessings of the desired groom. It is said that if you observe a fast and perform worship on the day of Hariyali Teej, all your wishes get fulfilled.
