    The colours in pride flag represents LGBTQIA+ community. The abbreviation LGBTQIA+ stands for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer or Questioning, Intersex, Asexual.

History

    The main flag that represents the pride colours was designed by Gilbert Baker, an artist, activist, and openly gay military veteran in 1977. Baker created the flag in order to represent the LGBTQ folks.

The Pride Flag

    The Pride flag has six colours, each colour represents different things. All the communities have different flags but to collectively represent the LGBTQ community the Gilbert Pride Flag is used.

Red represents ‘Life’

    The colour red in the flag represents life in the Pride flag. The equal status for LGBTQ community to live.

Orange represents ‘Healing’

    Orange represents ‘Healing’ The colour orange symbolises healing in the Pride flag. The healing of emotions, feelings and every thing that has caused the loss.

Yellow represents ‘Sunlight’

    Sunlight ultimately provides so many things, it gives life to plants, it brightens the dark and so the colour yellow is a symbol of sunlight in the Pride flag giving light and life.

Green represents ‘Nature’

    Nature is important for every single life on earth and so it is used to represent the LGBTQ community which basically tells that every thing has its own importance.

Indigo represents ‘Serenity’

    The colour blue/indigo is a symbol of serenity or peacefulness in the pride flag.

Violet represents ‘Spirit’ of LGBTQ people

    The colour violet in the Pride flag presents the spirit of the LGBTQ community people, irrespective of their gender, ethnicity and socioeconomic status.
