In astrology, it is believed that if you worship Lord Shiva with full devotion and proper rituals, you receive his immense blessings and success in your life. However, there are some things mentioned in the scriptures that you must not offer to Lord Shiva to avoid inauspiciousness.

You are advised not to use Tulsi leaves during the worship of Lord Shiva as it is considered to be a sin. According to the legend, Lord Shiva is believed to be Maa Tulsi’s elder brother and Lord Vishnu is her husband. Therefore, you should only use Tulsi leaves during the worship of Lord Vishnu.
The expert told us that offering red flowers or any other red item, for that matter, to Lord Shiva can infuriate him. Therefore, the use of red flowers in his worship is prohibited.

You should use sandalwood instead of Kumkum or Sindoor (Significance Of Sinhora) while worshipping Bholenath as offering him red vermillion is believed to be an equivalent to insulting him.
According to mythology, sesame seeds originated from the dirt of Lord Vishnu and you should not use them during the worship of Lord Shiva if you wish to receive his blessings.
While offering white flowers to Shivji is considered to be very auspicious, you should not offer him Ketaki flowers due to the curse on Ketaki flowers.
There is great importance in offering Belpatra to Lord Shiva as they are very dear to him. However, you should make sure that the leaves you use are not Khandit (mutilated) and they should always be offered in the number of three.
It is considered to be very inauspicious to offer coconut water to Lord Shiva and doing so can prevent you from receiving the benefits of the worship.

Lord Shiva is believed to reside in the crematorium, according to the ancient scriptures and turmeric is always used in auspicious works. Therefore, you should not use it while worshipping Lord Shiva.
You are prohibited from using any Khandit material during the worship of the deities, as per astrology. But, you should take special care that you don’t offer broken rice in the worship of Bholenath.
