Lord Krishna’s birth is believed to be the most special part of this day. At this time, the devotees perform the Abhisheka (bathing) of our beloved Lord Krishna in homes and temples with various substances like milk, curd, butter, and water. Find the right way to perform Abhishek, including the paraphernalia and quantities needed.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of honey
  • 2 cups of ghee
  • 2 cups of powdered sugar
  • 4 cups of curd (double the sugar)

While Performing Krishna Abhisheka

  • 8 cups of milk (double the curd)

Procedure

  • Add the honey to a vessel.
  • Mix in the ghee, powdered sugar, curd, and milk.
  • Add plenty of tulsi leaves.
  • Perform abhisheka by pouring the mixture over the idol of Lord Krishna.

While Performing Abhisheka

Recite the following verse,

  • Krishnaya Vasudevaya 
  • Haraye Paramatmane
  • Pranata Kleshanashaya
  • Govindaya Namo Nama

“Distribute the Prasad amongst the devotees and celebrate the holy appearance of Lord Krishna with full ardour. Wish you and your family a very happy and auspicious Krishna Janmashtami!!
