The Ekadashi Titihi of the Shukla Paksha of the month of Ashadh is celebrated as the Devshayani Ekadashi 2024, according to Panchang. This Ekadashi is considered very significant in the Hindu religion as it marks the beginning of the Chaturmas of the Hindu calendar. According to ancient scriptures, all the gods and goddesses go to sleep while residing in the netherworld with Lord Vishnu from this day on. It is said that lighting a Chaarmukhi diya or the four-faced lamp while worshipping Lord Vishnu on this day is extremely auspicious. Let us know about its significance from Astrologer Radhakant Vats in this article.
Devshayani Ekadashi 2024: Why Should We Light Chaarmukhi Diya In Front Of Lord Vishnu?
This year, the Devshayani Ekadashi will be observed on July 17 and the Chaturmas will begin on July 18. The Chaturmas goes on for four months and during this time, all the auspicious world is forbidden as the planets and constellations are believed to go through some major changes during this period and are weak.
The expert said that the four-faced lamp lit in front of Lord Vishnu symbolises the four months of the Chaturmas. The significance of this ritual is to ask Lord Vishnu to shower his blessings on the worshipper and his/her family during the four months of his rest.
It is believed that if you light a four-faced lamp in front of Lord Vishnu on the day of Devshayani Ekadashi, inauspicious energies stay away from you and you are blessed with positivity. Also, this helps you get rid of any planetary defects (Planetary Gemstones) that may be forming in your house and keeps the planets calm.
