The devotees celebrate this festival to welcome new crops. “The devotees pray for good crops by offering grains of the new crop to the fire. The fire of Lohri is considered a symbol of protection from evil eyes. People circle around the fire and ask for their wishes. On the day of Hadi, people pray for happiness and prosperity. God is pleased by putting ghee, sesame, jaggery, etc., in the fire,” said the astrologer.
